Introduction In parkinson-forum I present my personal conception of psychological aspects in origin, development and treatment of idiopathic Parkinson's disease that are my personal experience partially corresponding with the experience of others as well as with clinical observations. Expressly, I do not claim Parkinson's disease to be curable and place particular emphasis on the fact that the concept presented here does not replace treatment by a neurologist. I do not say that idiopathic Parkinson's disease is psychogenic. However, it looks very much as if psychological aspects, emotional and cognitive, play a major role and alternative treatment can remarkably relieve the symptoms of the disease. As long as a biological or genetic cause of (idiopathic) Parkinson's disease is not established, there is hope that recovery is possible by treating the psychological aspects of the disease.
